Happy Children’s Day & Cinco de Mayo!

May fifth is known as Cinco de Mayo in here but also Children’s Day in Japan. It is a national holiday on which all children are celebrated and their mothers are honored.

We had family gathering to celebrate birthday for my mother-in-law. I made this tricolor icing cake for today.

Since today is near Children’s day and Cinco De Mayo, I made Cactus character Toby from Sheriff Callie’s Wild West (Disner Junior’s TV series) and added Kabuto (Samurai helmet)on it. Kabuto express hope that each boy in the family will grow up healthy and strong.

I baked basic sponge cake with Dunkan Hines yellow cake mix, and made cream cheese butter cream frosting from this recipe.
For pink color, I added 1 teaspoon raspberry jam, and powdered dried raspberry instead using food color.
I also added green tea powder for green color. TriCake1 TriCake2
